We praise God that our kids are healthy. That we have a house to live in. That Justin has a good job. And so many other blessings.

But please pray for us. We lost quite a bit of money on our house in New Jersey. Bump in the road...we'll pay it off eventually, right? Well, last week we got a notice that we were being sued. The builder of our brand new home that we just moved into 5 months ago failed to pay several of the contractors who did work to build this house. They are suing us for the amount due to them, which totals (right now...who knows who else will come forward with debts) about $30,000. We have spoken with an attorney and it doesn't seem that there is much we can do to fix this. It looks as though we may actually have to pay this debt that is not ours. We have no way to do that.

To be honest, this move has brought us nothing but one challenge and crisis after another. Sometimes I wonder if we should have just stayed in New Jersey.

Thanks for praying.

So sorry Em. That's just terrible, and I will definitely pray for you guys. And I agree...New Jersey never would have allowed these shenanigans to happen. BUT alas, you're there, and we're here...missing you! xo Dawn

I'm sorry, too, Emily. You have run into so many challenges since moving to Arkansas. It makes me wonder what God is trying to teach you and your family. He must have something really special planned for you all.

I have been reading a lot about these "mechanics" liens or "contractor" liens since this came up last week. They apparently exist in every state (even NJ) and it seems that honest, hardworking, bill-paying-on-time people are the ones who get stuck.

We'll be praying for you. Maybe we can organize fundraiser! WE can name it "The Emily and Justin Allen Benefit to pay for the stuff that the Jerk Builder refused to pay" or something like that!
We love you,
Aunt Brenda

Hi, Emily. I'm a friend of Justin's from High School. I am so sorry to hear about this terrible misfortune! I can empathize with you.

My family and I moved from Nashville, TN to Brunswick, GA for my husband to pastor here. That was 2 1/2 years ago. Things have happened to us since we've been here that we would have never in a million years guessed could happen.

God has and is providing for us in wonderful ways. We deeply miss our home in Nashville, but have become new people in Christ and are being transformed into beautiful beings because of moving to this unfortunate place. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Emily and Justin I am sorry that this is happening but just know that it's happening for a reason. Although the reason is unclear to you now when the time is right God will reveal it to you. I will be praying for you and your family.

God Bless You guys!
